Completed just in the nick of time for my niece Lily’s birthday, this doll has a satisfying heft. I made her a doll for her birthday a couple of years ago, and Lily has slept with her every night since. When I visited North Carolina back in June, the older doll had seen better days, and was quite dirty and down to a few sad strands of hair. This time, I decided to use a pattern, and here we are.
The doll is nicely shaped, and came with clothes patterns as well. I’m happy to know I can easily make her more clothes as I find the time. The only trouble with this pattern is that there was a lot of hand-sewing. Between attaching the limbs, sewing on the hair and embroidering the face, I spent many late nights awake long past Ashley in order to get it done in time.
Emmett and Violet both wanted to keep it, and I promised Emmett I’ll make him one next, but it’ll take me a bit of time before I’m ready to tackle this pattern again. Lily’s very happy with it, though, so I’m happy to have taken the time to make her something she will cherish.
